Firefighters from across the county took part in a drill this morning.

Crews from St Annes, Lytham, and Wesham staged a serious two-car crash that had left motorists in desperate need of rescue - and put their skills to the test.

They were pictured using high-tech cutting gear to cut apart the two cars before using a stretcher to remove their 'casualties' from the stricken vehicles.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service support manager Fraser Smith said four new recruits watched the collaborative exercise, and said there had been a 'fantastic effort from all'.
