THIS schoolboy has shot to stardom after being hand picked as the new face of Walker’s crisps.
Owen Brady, from Thornton, is appearing alongside footballing legend Gary Lineker in a series of adverts for a new range of low fat crisps.
The Cardinal Allen pupil beat off competition from hundreds of hopefuls to appear as the face of Walker’s Baked Stars.
And the role certainly saw him getting up close and personal with the silver streaked star as he had to pretend to bite him as part of the role.
Owen, 12, said: “I was so excited when I got the call to say I’d got the part, I was shouting my head off!
“I was a bit nervous about meeting Gary Lineker but he was really nice.
“I spent a day filming in a supermarket in Sussex and it was really good fun.
“I hope I can continue acting and hope one day I can become the first ginger Dr Who.”
Owen, who lives on Springfield Drive, Thornton, has been a pupil at Scream Theatre School and casting agency in Layton since September.
His TV debut was screened on Saturday night as part of the advert break in Britain’s Got Talent.
The youngster also narrowly missed out on appearing in a Cadbury’s advert after getting down to the last two in the auditions.
His proud mum Helen, 37 said: “It was strange to see Owen’s face on TV but we were all very excited.
“We were thrilled when he got the part, I have always been a huge Gary Lineker fan and was even in his fan club when I was younger.
“On the filming day, Owen actually put me on the phone to him, it was amazing.
“I am very proud of what he has achieved with Scream.”
And staff at the school are also thrilled with his success.
Jessica Bell, a spokeswoman, said: “We are really proud of Owen, I know producers were very pleased with him too.
“It has been great to see his confidence grow and we are sure it will be the first of many roles.”
