Blackpool Zoo’s residents are the latest to join the ‘selfie’ trend.

Here’s Cherie, the attraction’s 18-year-old orangutan, whisking a camera on a whistle stop tour of her home, showing viewers how she is one of the world’s strongest and most intelligent animals.

The primate got up close and personal with a GoPro camera when keepers installed it in an indestructible box for her to play with in the new Orangutan Outlook enclosure, capturing a few self-portrait photographs - selfies - along the way.

Keepers prized the GoPro camera back from her in return for a banana to be able to share what it captured.

The resulting video is the latest in a series of behind-the-scenes footage of animal antics at Blackpool Zoo.

A camera set up atop a tree trunk in the zoo’s tiger enclosure, home to a Amur tigers, Zambar and Alyona and their two male cubs.
