One punch killer teenager locked up

A teenager who admitted killing a Blackpool man with a single punch has been locked up.

Connor Stewart, 16, has been detained for three years for killing Michael Rhodes outside a Blackpool corner shop.

The attack on Mr Rhodes took place outside Costcutters in Exchange Street, North Shore, on Saturday, May 20.

Reporting restrictions on naming Stewart were lifted by a judge at Preston Crown Court after an appeal by The Gazette.

Footage of the sickening attack had been widely circulated on social media following the incident.

The rock music fan was taken to Royal Preston Hospital, where he remained in a critical condition for weeks before his death on June 11, more than three weeks later.

He left behind a daughter, and was also survived by older sister Jane, younger brother Andrew, and mum Margaret.
