INJURED Jennifer Ellison is back on the ice after being left bleeding and in shock when she kicked the back of her head with a skate during Dancing on Ice.
The former Brookside actress, who is partnered with Fylde ice king Dan Whiston on the hit ITV1 series, had to be given urgent medical treatment after the accident on Sunday night’s show.
Dan, from Poulton, appeared clearly worried about the 28-year-old, who managed to finish the routine to Fever, but sought medical help off-screen immediately after.
She was given a score of 19 out of 30 by the judges for her performance – her best so far. But she appeared emotional in footage which showed her receiving medical treatment for the head wound.
Today Dan told The Gazette Jen had been straight back on to the ice the next morning.
He said: “She’s okay. It was a really deep cut, it was horrible.
“Near the end of the routine, Jen did a scorpion kick, but because she is so flexible, she threw her leg really high and the heel of her skate went into the back of her head.
“It was amazing she finished the routine, I didn’t realise what had happened until she was in the splits and I looked down and just saw a huge circle of blood.
“I’m first-aid trained, so applied pressure to the wound and got her straight to physio.
“She had to have it glued up, but she’s on the mend.
“Jen’s made of strong stuff and she was straight back on the ice the next morning.
“She hasn’t let it put her off and hasn’t let it affect her. She wants to get on with preparing for this week.
“It just acts as a reminder to people skating can be dangerous, and the show is live and anything can happen.
“But we’re looking forward to Sunday now – ironically it was the best Jen had actually skated last week!”
n Dancing on Ice continues on Sunday at 6.05pm on ITV1
