A keen runner has racked up an impressive 1,000 miles running every day, come rain or shine, for 365 days.
Dave Whitehead, 48, set himself a challenge to run every day for one year, covering at least three miles each day no matter what.
It meant the Bispham dad-of-two carried on running despite tearing a muscle nine months into the challenge.
Now, having covered at least 1,095 miles, the Under 10’s football team manager hopes his feat will impress enough to encourage donations to support his team.
Dave, a company director for Blackpool property agency 1st Choice Developments, had already run five marathons but said the daily challenge was something else.
He said: “I’d done marathons before but needed another challenge.
“I didn’t do much more than the three miles each day, I must admit.
“It was hard mentally, it was very tough at times like Christmas, birthdays or family time.”
And he even kept going despite tearing his calf muscle back in April.
Dave, of Sunnybank Avenue, Bispham, said: “That was a month just limping around.
“I hated it but the challenge to complete it kept me going.
“I had to keep going and I’m glad I did.”
Now Dave hopes to fund-raise for Blackpool Rangers Football Club Under 10 side, which he manages.
He said: “I’m aiming to raise £1,000 to £2,000.
“That would go towards new training kit and balls. It would be a great start to next season for the children, they won the league last year, they’re a cracking side.”
