Hunt goes on to track down owners of street pig

Police are no closer to tracking down the owner of a pig found in a Blackpool street.

Cookie, as the porker has been christened by officers, was found hiding in a hedge by a member of the public on Talbot Road close to Layton Cemetery in the early hours of last Wednesday,

Blackpool PCSOs have made enquiries to trace an owner, and have liaised with several agencies in their hunt, so far without success.

The pig is not microchipped and continues to be looked after by a member of the Police’s farmer network volunteers. A spokesman said she is doing well.

The force today made clear whatever happens in the hunt for the pigs owners, the animal will continue to be kept safe.

A spokesman said: “In line with lost and found policy the rightful owner must come forward within 28 days with proof of ownership.

“ Please be assured that after this time we will ensure the pig continues to have a happy life.”
