NO further action will be taken against two men arrested over the deaths of two teenage girls in a horror car crash.
Carly Notton and Danielle Lanchester, both 17, were travelling in a Renault Clio which left the road, hit a tree and ended up in a field off Garstang Road in Poulton.
The girls were pronounced dead at the scene following the crash on NOvember 28 last year.
Two men, aged 18 and 20, from Blackpool, who were travelling in an accompanying Ford Fiesta, were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and later bailed.
Police said one line of inquiry at the time was the possibility the two cars were racing each other.
Detectives have now said there is no indication the two men were to blame and will pass the matter to the coroner, who will hold inquests into the deaths.
A police spokesman said: “We have carried out a full and thorough investigation into the cause of the collision.
“All available evidence has been examined and at this stage there is nothing to suggest the two men contributed in any way to the cause of the collision.
“As such they have been released from police bail and no charges are being considered at this time.
“A full report is being prepared and will be made available to the coroner in due course.”
