FORMER Formula One World Champion Nigel Mansell is more used to getting about on four wheels.
But next month the popular sportsman will arrive into the resort on two as he takes part in a mammoth charity bike ride.
The challenge is to raise as much many for UK Youth, a national youth work charity supporting around 750,000 young people.
Charity president Nigel will start his journey in John O’Groats on June 12 and finish in Paris at the Eiffel Tower on Saturday June 23.
En route Nigel will make a pit-stop in Blackpool.
He will depart from the foot of our famous tower – finishing at the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
A spokesman said: “A couple of years ago Nigel completed a cycle ride around the UK covering over 1200 miles in just twelve days to celebrate the charities centenary year.
“He has subsequently completed two London to Paris cycle events as well as being the team owner of Team UK Youth a professional cycling team competing in both the Halfords Tour Series and several UCI events.
“This year, however, Nigel is setting an even greater challenge for himself, riding from John O’Groats to the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
“Nigel will be undertaking 11 days of solid cycling and upwards of 1200 miles, and we really want to support his desire for it to help promote UK Youth.”
Nigel hopes to arrive in the resort on Saturday June 16.
The dad-of-three and former Indycar championship winner will spend a couple of nights in the resort before setting off to Paris.
