TRADING in part of the Fylde coast is set for a boost with the launch of two new shops.
The new additions to the high street in Cleveleys – The Blinds Company and Fish Loves Chips – on Victoria Road East moved into the town last month.
Kath Wear, 55, runs The Blinds Company with business partner Roy Gardiner, 45.
She said: “We’ve been looking for a premises on the high street for a while and this fits the bill.
“We are building up the high street shops and it’s service for local people.
“Cleveleys needs more shops and it’s building up nicely now.
“Most of them are full at the moment, which is good for everybody.
“Empty shops put people off and they don’t want to come to the high street.”
Andrea Kay, a member of Cleveleys Chamber of Trade, said: “It’s really exciting we are getting some new businesses and it’s great for the town.
“Cleveleys is trying to grow and I’m excited we’ve got new growth in the town and we are supporting it and not putting the town down.
“If people keep putting it down we are not going to move forward.
“We now have growth in the town and people should try and visit the shops to buy close to home rather than buying away from home.”
Chris Pittounikos, 38, owner of Fish Loves Chips, explained why he decided to bring his business to Cleveleys town centre.
He said: “It’s busy and affluent town with a captivating audience. We opened six months ago and seem to be doing all right.
“We want to run a good business and already have Shakies on Shakespeare Road and Chatties in Fleetwood.”
