A town leisure centre has a brand new look following a complete overhaul.

Wyre Council and Fylde Coast YMCA invested £36,000 in refurbishing the centre in Windsor Road, Garstang, and introducing new facilities, including a purpose built weights room with Smith
machine and new fitness equipment.

In addition, the interior has been transformed with fresh paint work and new lighting, mirrors and flooring.

Coun Lynne Bowen, cabinet member with responsibility for sport and leisure at Wyre Council, said: “This investment by both the council and Fylde Coast YMCA demonstrates our shared long term commitment to providing a quality leisure service in Garstang, and is testament to the success of our partnership.”

Mike Vernon, YMCA leisure director for Wyre, said: “Over the past few years we’ve seen a significant increase in the amount of local people participating and joining the Garstang centres.

“As a result we have been able to enhance the overall experience and vastly improve the physical activity offer in line with the modern health and fitness standards at the other centres in Wyre.”
