Peter Anthony is the new Fylde councillor for Lytham’s Clifton ward.

The Conservative took the seat with 576 votes, a hefty majority of 444 over second-placed UKIP candidate Tim Wood. The Clifton ward vacancy was caused by the resignation through ill health of Conservative Len Davies.

Peter, a professional singer who lives in the ward and owns a shop there along with other business intetrests around the Fylde coast, finished second to Gordon Marsden in Blackpool South at May’s General Election.

“I am very much looking forward to serving the people of Clifton ward,” he said.

Result: Peter Anthony (Con) 576; Tim Wood (UKIP) 128; Noreen Griffiths (Ind) 122; Jerrod Sullivan (Lab) 84; Luke Gibbon (Lib Dem) 53. Turnout 29.53 per cent.
