An aspiring young Blackpool sports star took the internet by storm after a video of his boxing moves went viral.
Video footage of 10-year-old Ozzy Roberts demonstrating advanced boxing techniques, after just three months of training, racked up almost 20,000 views in less than a week on the World Boxing Scene Facebook page.
Layton Primary School pupil Ozzy, who lives on Whitegate Drive with mum Emma and dad Terry, has high hopes of taking his boxing to the next level and representing the UK on the world stage.
He said: “I’ve been boxing now for about 10 months, but when the video was taken I had only been training for three.
“I’ve definitely improved a lot since then. My favourite move is the right hook.
“It feels a bit strange knowing it’s me in the video and so many people are watching me.”
The video, which was ‘liked’ and shared more than 600 times by people around the world, attracted the attention of boxing experts who praised Ozzy as ‘a natural talent’.
Boxing trainer Tom Scott, of Sharp Style boxing club on Bagot Street, taught Ozzy everything he knows.
He said: “We’ve got a lot of good boxers here at the club, and Ozzy is one of the younger ones who is coming up strong.
“He’s looking forward to getting his boxing license and starting competing for real later this year. Eventually I think he’s got potential to go professional if he keeps it up.”
