DETECTIVES have been given longer to speak to three men arrested after a man was beaten to death in Blackpool.
A murder probe was launched after the body was discovered on Blackpool beach in the early hours of Saturday.
And a post mortem carried out today has revealed the man died of injuries consistent with being beaten.
Detectives are now questioning three local men aged 27, 38 and 43 on suspicion of murder.
The trio were arrested after the body, believed to be that of a local man in his 40s, was discovered by passers-by at 4am on the beach opposite the Lyndene Hotel between Central and South Pier.
Police exercised an extension on the time allowed to interview suspects.
Det Chief Insp Andrea Barrow said: “We are in the early stages of this investigation and I would appeal for anyone who has any information to get in touch.”
Police are in the process of trying to contact the relatives of the dead man.
Anyone with information should call police on the non emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
