Murder probe launched

TWO people were today being questioned by detectives on suspicion of murder after the body of a woman was found in a Blackpool alleyway.

The grim discovery was made at the rear of Kirby Road, South Shore, shortly after 9pm yesterday.

Two people were arrested close to the scene.

A 22-year-old woman, and a 20-year-old man, from Blackpool, were today being held on suspicion of murder.

It is not known at this stage how old the victim was but police have described her as “young”.

A police cordon remained in place at the scene this morning.

A Lancashire Police spokeswoman said: “The body of a young woman was found shortly after 9pm yesterday in the rear alley at Kirby Road in Blackpool.

“A 22-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were arrested near to the scene and are currently being held in police custody on suspicion of murder.

“Anyone with any information is asked to

contact police on the usual 101 number.”
