A HEALTH centre was today at the centre of a murder investigation after a man’s body was found in the toilets.
The body of the 34-year-old was discovered at the Whitegate Health Centre, on Whitegate Drive, Blackpool, at around 12.25pm on Tuesday.
A 44-year-old Blackpool man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is now being quizzed by detectives about the death, which is being treated as “unexplained”.
Police were alerted after ambulance staff were called to the scene at the busy healthcare centre.
A spokeswoman for the North West Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 12.25pm from a receptionist reporting someone unconscious.
“They were taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital.”
The dead man’s identity has not yet been revealed by police and the suspect was released on bail yesterday afternoon.
NHS Blackpool, who run the health centre, declined to comment on the circumstances surrounding the death.
The health centre houses Blackpool’s walk-in centre as well as GP clinics, mental health services and community nursing facilities.
