A man was found to be more than twice over the limit when he drove home from a birthday party in Kirkham.

Pavels Biserovs was spotted doing 70mph in a 50mph zone on the A583 out of town and police signalled him to stop.

Biserovs, a 26-year-old Latvian, of Lynton Avenue, South Shore, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol. He was banned from the road for 18 months, fined £250 with £85 costs and ordered to pay a £150 court by Blackpool magistrates.

Prosecutor, Pam Smith, said police saw Biserovs driving a BMW on July 5 at 1am. He failed to slow down for a mini roundabout at the junction of Church and Freckleton streets, Kirkham.

Kathryn Jamieson-Sinclair, defending, said Biserovs had been at a birthday party in the town. He had then slept for a while.
