A ST ANNES schoolgirl is set to appear in BBC’s contemporary version of The Passion plays.
Morgan Meechan, who is 13 and a pupil at St Bede’s School in Lytham, was picked for a small role in the ground-breaking drama which will be shown live today.
Fern Britton will present the live BBC 1 show from Preston from 12 noon.
It aims to put a modern twist on the story of Christ’s condemnation and crucifixion and is based in Preston past and present.
Morgan, who lives on Dalton Street in St Annes, was picked to perform the role of a bully who victimises a young girl called Bella.
This role will be shown in a pre-filmed drama which forms part of the show. She will also perform in a live event.
Morgan said: “I was really excited to get a role in The Preston Passion. It is a massive show and is also my biggest TV role.
“I have been rehearsing for eight weeks and am really looking forward to being part of such a big, important event.”
A number of acting stars appear in the show including Samantha Bond, Tom Ellis, Christine Bottomley, Ronald Pickup and Paul Barber.
