WEATHER experts have warned Blackpool residents to expect more gale force winds today after gusts of up to 63mph battered the Fylde coast.
The westerly wind was so severe yesterday afternoon, paramedics were called to a report of one pedestrian being blown into some shutters along the Promenade in Blackpool.
A spokesman for the Met Office said residents should expect more strong winds today.
He said: “Blackpool saw gusts of 55 knots, which is 63mph, yesterday.
“They were getting up to gale force winds.
“The gusts eased off yesterday evening but will pick up again today.
“There is a warning of strong winds, which covers Blackpool, with speeds of around 50 or 60mph.
“People should beware when they are walking around.
“It will be a westerly wind coming off the sea and along the Promenade.”
