LIFEBOAT crews were called out to rescue 14 cockle pickers this morning.
Lytham RNLI were assisted by the Lytham Coastguard Rescue team at 6.32am when an emergency call was received reporting the men to be in the water.
The call-out was the second this morning as Lytham crews were called to rescue three cocklers at 4.17am.
But on arrival at the scene, the Inshore Lifeboat found two vessels, one towing the other and one man suffering the effects of the cold weather.
The man was taken back to shore and did not need hospital treatment.
All crews were stood down at 8.15am and the Coastguard questioned the cockler who raised the original alarm of 14 people being in the water.
