BLACKPOOL’S windmill is back to its best after a £2,500 makeover.

The Little Marton mill at Mereside has been repainted.

It is hoped, in future, images could be projected onto the landmark using state-of-the-art lighting techniques.

Ann Allen, chairman of the Friends of Little Marton Windmill, said: “Our thanks go to everyone who helped us, and to our painter Tommy Baxter.

“He endured difficult conditions to put two coats of paint on the mill. It is durable paint which has a 15-year lifespan.

“The mill now looks so good, one idea in the pipeline is to project images onto it.”

The friends group raised £1,000 towards the cost of the work, which included a £500 donation from Glasdon’s.

The remainder included a £1,000 donation from the ward budget of Clifton councillors Adrian Hutton and Joan Greenhalgh, and £500 of area forum funding.

Johnston’s also donated three gallons of paint.
