ONE of Britain’s favourite pop stars will shine the spotlight on Blackpool when he appears in the resort with the Olympic Torch.

Harry Judd, of McFly and Strictly Come Dancing fame will foxtrot the Olympic Torch into the Tower Ballroom for a special performance in front of 1,000 watching fans.

It is part of a number of glittering events which will see celebrities descend on the Fylde coast to welcome the iconic flame into the resort.

Harry, who will also perform with his band McFly on the Tower Festival Headland on Sunday, will carry the torch into the ballroom in recognition of his winning achievements on the BBC celebrity talent show.

Once in the ballroom he will perform a choreographed dance with the flame and his dance partner from the show Aliona Vilani.

Blackpool Tower general manager Kate Shane said: “Everyone here at the Tower is extremely excited to welcome the Olympic Torch to the Blackpool Tower Ballroom.

“All hands have been on deck preparing for its arrival and we feel so privileged to be a part of this national event.”

The spectacular event will kick off an evening of entertainment as singing sensation Katy B and Britain’s Got Talent duo Twist and Pulse take to the stage for Blackpool’s big torch party at 7pm.
