The organisers of yesterday’s mass march by Blackpool FC fans have thanked demonstrators for their “brilliant” support.

An estimated 3,000 disgruntled Seasiders fans marched through the resort to call for owners the Oyston family to quit the club.

Blackpool Supporters Trust chairman Steve Rowland said: “We want to say a massive thank you to the thousands of brilliant Blackpool fans who marched on Judgement Day 2.

“What a day! A river of pride and passion flowing through the streets of the town to Bloomfield Road. That atmosphere is just a taste of what it will be like when we finally get our club back – and we will. When the irresistible force meets the immovable object eventually the object is swept away.

“Thanks also to the stewards, the council team and the police for their handling of the day. It was a credit to everyone involved, a true community event and something that we will build on.

“Together – as fans united, as a community working together – we will get the positive change that the supporters, the famous club of Blackpool FC and the town needs and deserves.”

A number of protests against the Oystons have been planned by fans groups the BST and Tangerine Knights.

The Seasiders stand on the brink of relegation from League One after a 4-0 home loss against Wigan yesterday.
