A MAN pulled from the sea at Blackpool by lifeguards is in a stable condition.

The 29-year-old casualty was airlifted to Royal Preston Hospital on Friday after getting into difficulty while swimming near South Pier.

He was rescued by a member of Blackpool Beach Patrol before being transferred to a lifeboat where he was resuscitated.

He was transferred to Royal Preston Hospital by the North West Air Ambulance following the rescue just after 3pm.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said the man’s condition remained stable.
