POLICE were today hunting for a gang of thugs who attacked and stabbed a man as he walked along a Blackpool street.
The 18-year-old victim was making his way along Kingscote Drive, Layton, to his girlfriend’s house, when he was approached from behind by a group of up to four men.
One of the men punched him to the head and knocked him to the ground.
While on the ground the teenager was then kicked and punched to the body and head.
A sharp object was used to inflict small puncture wounds on each arm.
The victim was treated for his injuries at Blackpool Victoria hospital.
He had sustained nasty bruises to his head and body, was left in a lot of pain and struggling to breathe.
Police today appealed for witnesses to the vicious assault which happened at 7.40pm on Monday.
Det Con Angela Walsh, from Blackpool CID, said: “This is a serious and unprovoked assault against a completely innocent lone man who was simply walking along the street.
“It was dark at the time of the attack but the victim recalls one of the men was wearing a hoody and another had on white trainers.
“An investigation is underway and I would appeal to anybody who witnessed this incident or with any information about the persons responsible to contact Lancashire Police on 101.”
