A MAN fell out with an old friend of 20 years and ended up punching and kicking him.

Unemployed Christopher Metcalfe, 44, of Coronation Street, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to assault.

He was sentenced to an eight weeks curfew from 8pm to 7am and ordered to pay £85 costs by Blackpool magistrates.

Sandra Ardern, prosecuting, said that on April 12 Metcalfe and the victim were drinking strong lager when they argued.

The victim said Metcalfe grabbed him by the neck, pinned him to a wall and then dragged him to the ground where he was punched and kicked.

Michael Woosnam, defending, said his client felt the complainant was trying to “wind him up” because he kept saying he had heard someone wanted to sort Metcalfe out.

The following morning the complainant asked Metcalfe to his home and then called the police after taking the view Metcalfe was not expressing any remorse for what he had done the previous night.
