A man was pulled out of his home by firefighters as it went up in flames.
The man, believed to be in his 60s, was rescued from his house on Promenade, on the corner of Sandhurst Avenue, Bispham, which caught fire at around 11.15am on Saturday.
He was unconscious at the scene and rushed to Blackpool Victoria Hospital.
Fire crews from Bispham and Blackpool fire stations had to break into the house to get to the man.
Watch manager Ally Park at Forest Gate said: “The house was heavily smoke logged from a fire which had started downstairs.
“The man was rescued from an upstairs room. He was suffering form a lot of smoke inhalation, and his condition is serious.”
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the police and fire service.
