A MAN accused of stabbing his girlfriend numerous times in the face and in the shoulder has made his first appearance at court.
Hardi Gharib, 29, of Harlech Avenue, Blackpool, is charged with maliciously wounding his partner with intent to cause her grievous bodily harm.
The offence is said to have taken place on Saturday at the flat the couple had shared in the resort’s Bolton Street, in South Shore.
Gharib had the court proceedings relayed to him by a Kurdish interpreter.
Angus Craigen, prosecuting, asked for the case to go direct to crown court and opposed bail for the defendant.
Blackpool magistrates refused Gharib bail and remanded him in custody.
He is set to next appear at Preston Crown Court on December 22.
