THIS is the terrifying moment two suited men viciously kicked, punched and stamped on another man’s face as he lay defenceless on the ground.

Police investigating the violent assault on Topping Street in central Blackpool have released a shocking CCTV image which shows two smartly dressed men assaulting the 44-year-old.

The victim was approached by the men outside the Salad Bowl shop and Iceland near Blackpool bus station.

They shouted at him before punching him to the arm and face.

After he stumbled and fell to the ground, the victim’s attackers then repeatedly kicked, punched and stamped on his face.

The man was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital where he was treated for a fracture to his skull.

Officers say the attack was unprovoked and are asking for anyone who recognises the men in the image or has any information about the incident to come forward.

PC Victoria Reed, from Blackpool Police, said: “This is a nasty and unprovoked attack and the men responsible need to be caught.

“I believe the offenders had been drinking nearby earlier in the evening and I would urge anybody who witnessed the incident or with any information to come forward and contact police.”

The attack happened around 10.10pm on Sunday.

The victim has since been allowed home from hospital where he is recovering from the ordeal.

The owner of a shop on Topping Street, who did not wish to be named, said: “We’ve got a camera outside so the police have been to speak to us about it. You always get one or two incidents down here.”

The first offender is described as white and of slim build.

He was wearing a suit with a white shirt and is thought to be in his 40s. The second man is also white and aged in his late 40s or 50s.

He is of stocky build, wore glasses and a suit with a dark shirt underneath.

Anyone who recognises the men in the picture or has any information about this incident should contact Blackpool Police on (01253) 293933.
