A man accused of repeatedly punching a friend at a birthday celebration, causing a mouth wound which needed plastic surgery and resulted in permanent scarring, has made his first appearance at court.

Ricky-Lee Robinson is alleged to have attacked the friend, who was in bed, after he kissed a previous girlfriend of his.

Robinson, 29, formerly of Hawes Side Lane, Marton, now of no fixed address, is charged with wounding a man causing him grievous bodily harm at Blackpool on February 9 this year.

Martine Connah, prosecuting, asked for the case to be heard at crown court. Defence lawyer Stephen Duffy said his client would not indicate a plea to the offence at this stage.

Robinson was bailed to appear at Preston Crown Court on June 10 by District Judge Joanne Hirst, sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.
