A man is in hospital with “significant” cuts to his arm after being attacked in Blackpool town centre.
Police were called to Central Drive, near the junction with Bethesda Road, at around 6.15am on Saturday.
It is believed two men were involved in an altercation in the doorway of a house.
The victim is being treated in hospital for his injuries, which are not thought to be life-threatening.
Details of the attack are unclear although it was initially suggested a bottle may have been used as a weapon during the attack. Police have so far been unable to confirm this.
Detectives have arrested one man in connection with the incident.
Det Sgt Rik Irving, of Blackpool CID, said: “There has been an incident in a private HMO (house of multiple occupancy) and a man has received significant cuts to one of his arms.
“He has gone to hospital and is undergoing treatment.
“This happened in the doorway and it did impact on the street a little bit so we are appealing to anyone who saw anything to get in touch.”
A 35-year-old man, thought to be local, is in custody and being quizzed by detectives in connection with the attack.
Anyone with information should call police on 101.
