A MAN has been arrested after a car collided with an paramedic vehical.
The three men in the car ran from the scene following the crash on Mains Lane, Singleton close to the Shell garage at 9.40am.
Police gave chase and arrested one of the men on suspicion of driving a stolen vehicle and dangerous driving.
The other two men escaped.
The paramedic driving the ambulance was taken to hospital.
Mains Lane was closed but has now reopened.Elsewhere, a woman was cut from her car by firefighters after a collision in Stalmine.
The accident happened on Smithy Lane close to the Seven Stars pub at 9.26am this morning.
A Peugeot 106 and a Renault Megane were involved in the collsion.
It is believed the female driver of the Peugeot received head injuries as a result and was unable to get out of the car.
Police closed Smithy Lane as firefighters cut her from the vehicle. She was taken to hospital.
The male driver of the Renault is believed to have been unhurt.
