A MAN has been arrested following an all-night stand-off with armed police.

Dozens of officers were called to an address on Queen Victoria Road, Blackpool, after the man locked himself in the house alongside his partner and her baby.

Officers had gone to the address to arrest the man, a 25-year-old from Greenock, Scotland, on behalf of Strathclyde Police.

He was wanted in connection with attempted murder and wounding with intent.

The incident began at around 5pm last night, though armed officers were only sent to the scene - alongside a trained negotiator - after the man refused to cooperate.

It was believed he had a weapon and parts of Bloomfield Road, Queen Victoria Road and Ansdell Road were sealed off during the siege.

The woman and baby were not being held against their will and the siege came to an end when the man was arrested at 10.15am this morning.

He is now being questioned by police in Blackpool on suspicion of false imprisonment before being transferred to Scotland.
