A THIEF dubbed the Fylde coast’s most prolific burglar has admitted 214 crimes in three years.
Lancaster Crown Court heard how Liam Clegg, 21, worked his way through South Shore, central Blackpool, Poulton, Cleveleys and Thornton on a one man burglary spree since he was released from prison three years ago.
Clegg, of no fixed address, who lost both parents when he was younger, was finally cornered after fingerprints and footprints linked him to a burglary on Park Road, Blackpool, in February 2010.
After he was arrested, the tearaway – who had already spent time behind bars after admitting 107 previous offences – made an attempt to “wipe the slate clean” by taking officers on a tour of his crime scenes in the back of a police car.
Det Con James Scantlebury, of Blackpool Police, said: “Clegg is the most prolific burglar I have seen in the Fylde coast.
“The one thing I can say is he did try to give his victims some closure.
“Last year, he requested to be taken on a drive around the Fylde coast and pointed out all the houses he had targeted in the past.
Some of the crimes he pointed out we hadn’t even got on record.
