Man, 20, attacked in street

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted in Blackpool town centre.

The assault took place around 4am on Monday on Church Street when the victim, a 20-year-old man from Fleetwood was walking with friends.

He was approached by two men who acted aggressively towards him and spoke in a foreign accent.

An altercation followed and the victim was punched to the ground and kicked to the head and body.

The victim suffered a broken jaw and remains at Royal Preston Hospital receiving treatment.

The two attackers are both described as Eastern European, between 20 and 25 years of age and around 6ft tall.

One of the men had a shaved head, was of stocky build, while the second man was described as having short, dark hair and stubble. Both men were wearing black T-shirts.

Det Con Michael Brook, of Blackpool CID, said: “I would appeal to anybody who witnessed this incident or has any information to come forward. The two offenders launched a completely unprovoked attack.”
