Smiling Kara Rose has had her flowing locks lopped off for charity - for a big price tag.

The six-year-old has raised more than £1,000 to emulate hero songstress Jessie J.

The Thames Primary School pupil raised the money for the Little Princess Trust, a charity which donates wigs to children who have suffered hairloss as a result of serious illness.

Kara’s mother Michelle Rose, of Penrose Avenue, Marton, said: “I can’t believe how generous people have been just weeks before Christmas.

“Our target originally was only £350, which was enough to pay for the hair to be made into a wig.

“But after two days, she had already raised £600.”

Michelle added: “She kept saying she wanted to do it. I was expecting her to change her mind but she didn’t. She was determined.

“Kara saw Jessie J do it on TV and she has wanted to do it herself ever since. She is a big fan.

She cried when they cut her hair but they were tears of joy.

“Kara has such beautiful hair, everyone always says it to her.

“It just seemed a shame to let it go to waste.”
