X Factor Stacey is flying the Blackpool flag

STACEY McClean is flying the flag for Blackpool after scooping a place in X Factor's final 24.

The 20-year-old former Beacon Hill pupil wowed judges Simon Cowell, Dannii Minogue, Cheryl Cole and Louis Walsh when she belted out Christina Aguilera's hit Ain't No Other Man during her Manchester audition for the hit ITV talent show.

Now, the hopes of the resort rest on the diva after she sailed through to the final 24 of the competition during last night's show.

It means she is now only one step away from the live finals.

Admin manager Stacey, from Cliffs Place in Bispham, is no stranger to fame.

She shot to stardom at the tender age of 12 as a singer with pop sensations S Club Juniors.

But she now has her sights set on a solo deal.

Stacey said: "The whole experience has been amazing – I was so happy when I found out I'd got through boot camp.

"I think the judges were happy with my song. Although, Simon and Louis did say I need to choose some different songs because they were too big for me.

"Dannii and Cheryl were really nice – they said thank God S Club Juniors broke up!

"I had my whole family with me as well as my boyfriend and friends, we were all crying when I found out I'd got through.

"I'm used to performing in front of people but it was a really emotional experience in front of the judges."

Her performance also prompted Simon Cowell to make an amazing

U-turn on his feelings about Blackpool.

The famously acid-tongued judge, who branded the resort depressing and talentless when he visited as part of Britain's Got Talent, announced he "loved Blackpool".

And Stacey says she is determined to prove there is talent in Blackpool.

She added: "It is brilliant to be flying the flag for Blackpool, the support I've had from people has been brilliant.

"I know loads of talented people from here who have gone on to have really successful careers.

"I hope the town will support me as I continue with my X Factor journey."
