Work begins on new Pleasure Beach attraction
WORK has begun on a £500,000 crazy golf course at the Pleasure Beach which will tee off the 2008 season.
Plans were first revealed last year for the scheme on Flagstaff Gardens, just outside the main park, which will boast a spectacular figure eight on hole nine - a first in the UK.
The 12-hole Adventure Golf course will also feature water hazards, eye-catching landscaping and benches for those who would rather watch than play. Refreshments will be sold from an on-site cafe.
Pleasure Beach managing director Amanda Thompson said: "Adventure Golf will improve the overall look of the Promenade and offers a significant new statement in the realm of public art. I'm sure it will be great fun for all the family and is yet another fantastic addition to Pleasure Beach."
The latest investment follows on from the 8m spent by the park this year to bring suspended looping coaster Infusion to Blackpool.
It is also hoped the golf will add a new dimension to the council's Promenade Show comprising of public art, while complimenting the regeneration of the seafront.
The course is due to open to the public by next Easter.
