Woman left 'shaken' by violent theft

POLICE in Wyre are appealing for witnesses following a violent theft.

The incident happened on Tuesday on a path which links Amounderness Way with Fleetwood Road.

As the female victim was making her way towards Thornton, at the site of the cricket pitch close to Norcross Roundabout, she was pushed to the ground by a man who snatched her handbag.

He ran away from the scene in the direction of Amounderness Way.

The 19-year-old woman was not injured in the attack but police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A police spokesman said: "We are keen to track down the man involved in this incident. The woman was left shaken by the experience. If anyone has any information I would urge them to get in touch."

Stolen

The woman involved was wearing a three-quarter length white coat with a hood.

The handbag stolen was a small, fake leather design with diamante on the sides.

It contained paperwork, cigarettes and a lighter but no cash.

Police investigating the incident have issued a description of the man they want to speak to.

He is believed the be in the late 20s or early 30s, five feet nine inches tall with a muscular build.

The man was wearing a black or navy hooded top with the hood over his face, dark trousers and white trainers.
