Woman charged with scissor death

A WOMAN was due to appear in court today accused of killing her partner with a pair of scissors.

Stephen Simpson, 40, of South Shore, was admitted to Blackpool Victoria Hospital last Friday with what police described as "a relatively minor stab wound".

He died at around 8pm on Tuesday after contracting septicaemia.

Mr Simpson's partner Nicola Triplet, 39, also from South Shore, was charged with manslaughter yesterday.

Infected

She was due to appear before Blackpool magistrates today.

Det Chief Insp Neil Esseen, of Blackpool Police's Major Incident Team, said: "This is a tragic and unusual case.

"We believe there was an incident at the home they shared on Friday where Mr Simpson received what appeared to be a relatively minor stab wound.

"That wound became infected and he died at Victoria Hospital on Tuesday evening."

The couple have a 10-year-old child together who is currently staying with relatives.
