'White Hendrix' in Marine show

HE never became a household name, but Robin Trower (pictured) has been called one of the great guitar soloists in rock and roll by music officianados.

Now the man once dubbed “The White Hendrix” is making a long-awaited return to Fleetwood.

Trower is performing at the town’s Marine Hall on Saturday May 31 at 8pm, three years after his last – and first ever – appearance at the venue.

The blues/rock guitar hero made his reputation with 60s rock band Procol Harum, best known for their hit a Whiter Shade of Pale, during their heyday from 1967 to 1972. Then, he went solo and forged a brilliant reputation in the 1970s.

He is coming to Fleetwood thanks again to the involvement of a local blues promoter Alan Pearson who organised many blues events on the Fylde coast.

Tickets, priced at 15 can be obtained via the Marine Hall box office on (01253) 771141.
