Welfare fiddler with seven jobs
A BENEFITS cheat cooked the books by having SEVEN jobs, five of them as a chef, while claiming thousands of pounds in disability benefits.
Roy Gledhill from St Annes was working as a catering manager for Lancashire County Council when he was caught by benefit fraud investigators.
The father-of-two filled in an official form to claim benefits stating he could walk no more than 25 metres without discomfort and needed help getting in and out of bed.
He claimed more than 12,000 in disability living allowance and incapacity benefit over two years.
Gledhill, 38, of Glen Eldon Road, pleaded guilty to failing to notify the authorities there had been a reduction in his mobility and care needs and that he was working.
He was bailed for three weeks for a pre-sentence report by Blackpool magistrates who warned him he may be jailed.
David Edwards, prosecuting for the Department for Work and Pensions, said from February 2006 to October 2008 Gledhill had illegally claimed 12,337.
