We want cafe back say evicted family
THE evicted tenants of Blackpool's famous Art Deco Cafe today broke their silence and said: "We want our business back."
David and Angela Lidstone were ordered to leave the cafe in Stanley Park last week after Blackpool Council called time on their six-year tenure.
Despite turning around the fortunes of the business a rent dispute with the local authority led to their eviction.
Council chiefs say the couple, who ran the business with their daughter Natalie, owe 84,000 in back rent.
The Lidstones dispute the sums owed because of loss of earnings, disruptions and damages caused, they claim, during 5m restoration work in the park.
The family are counter claiming 200,000 through the courts to cover losses. And they now aim to raise the cash and get their business back.
Mr Lidstone said: "We want the Art Deco Cafe back. And we want our good name back. That, most of all,"
