By day she’s a caravan sales-woman – but when she’s off the clock she’s our very own Miss Lancashire.
Bispham girl Helen Bates, 26, triumphed in the top county beauty contest earlier this year and is now preparing to go on to represent Lancashire at the Miss Great Britain finals next month.
And despite being a na-tive Yorkshirewoman, Helen has also vowed to put the roses rivalry aside and do the people of her adopted county proud.
She said: “I’m excited and nervous, I don’t want to let everyone in Lancashire down.
“The closer I get to the final I get more palpitations.
“I call all my fans and fol-lowers Team Bates, and I need the whole of them behind me whether they’re from Yorkshire or Lancashire.”
Helen, who lives in Shelley Close, Bispham, and is origi-nally from Sheffield, works in the sales department at Mar-ton Mere holiday village selling caravans to people seeking a retreat by the seaside.
She also occasionally appears as a present on shopping channel Bid.TV.
And she says her company colleagues are fully behind her bid for beauty contest glory.
Helen added: “They think it’s great and they’re all for it.
“It’s great publicity for us and it’s really exciting.”
Anyone wanting to vote for Helen can text MISSGB22 to 64343, which costs £1 as well as your standard network rate.
The Miss Great Britain finals are due to take place over the weekend of November 14 and 15, at the Athena, in Leicester.
