Two streets in Blackpool which had to be closed because of damage caused by the strong winds were reopened on Sunday afternoon

Police closed King Street and Charles Street in the town centre at around 2pm after concerns over a loose metal sheet which was hanging off the site of the former Syndicate nightclub.

Firefighters were called to the building on Church Street, where they removed the large metal panel before the roads were reopened a short time later.

It is thought a member of Blackpool Council staff spotted the loose sheeting and reported it to Lancashire Fire and Rescue.
