FANS of the famous Blackpool-made TVR sports cars are set to gather on the Promenade this month for their bi-annual get-together.
Back Home 2013 will see more than 300 classic TVRs on show on the sea front below the Metropole Hotel near the North Pier.
The free two-day event will also feature auto tests of the high-powered cars on the lower promenade where members of the public can see and hear the legendary vehicles in action.
John Mleczek from the TVR Car Club and a former worker a the Bispham factory, said : “This is going to be one of the biggest we have held for many years.
“We will be having a concourse competition to find the best looking car on the Saturday and on Sunday there will be the demonstration runs of some fantastic cars including Tuscan race cars. We will have a public address system to tell the public all about the cars and there are things for the kids to do too with David Ives and his model trucks.”
There will be traders’ stands, a timeline of TVR cars showing how they developed over the years, and an evening Ball at the De Vere Village Hotel on East Park Drive for Club members.
He added: “It would be great if any of the ex-factory workers could turn up and make themselves known to us on either day, tat would be great.”
The event has been going for the past 15 years and this year there will be a charity collection for the Derian House Children’s Hospice.
