Tribute to Daz set to be a big hit

A SONG inspired by fallen Marine Daz Smith is set to be a Christmas hit in his home town of Fleetwood.

Local musicians have banded together to make the song Don't Forget Me and proceeds to will be in aid of Help for

Heroes.

It's available initially on iTunes but a CD version will follow soon

Writer of the song John Scott of Larkholme Fleetwood, said: "The response we have had is amazing.

"People have been talking about it and playing it in the pubs and so many people I have spoken to have already got a copy.

"We are making a CD copy and we have a couple of local businesses who have asked if they can pay for CD to be made. It should be available in about a month.

"We also have a video to go with it that will be coming out soon.

"I'm delighted with the way the song has come out.;

"Every single person who has heard it – not just my family – say it's brilliant and they love it.

"We will keep plugging it and all the proceeds will go to Help for Heroes."

He added: "We have a poster that's in shop windows and as soon as people know what it's for they don't hesitate to put it on display.

"Everyone knew Daz or seem to know his family.

"The song is about a soldier not coming home. It's not about Daz but I was inspired when I went to his funeral and I decided to change a song I already had and change the subject."

Marine smith's step-father Paul Smith said: "It's a great song and it's very fitting for the cause.

"It's good that John Scott has done this and I hope it raises as much as possible for Help for

Heroes."

The musical co-operative who have produced the song are SOS Music and they recorded it at SOS Studio Fleetwood & Rockhard Studio Blackpool.

Heard on the recording are Lead Vocal – Kev Scott (lead vocal, guitar and bass), John Banx (guitar), Seamus O'Doherty (drums, piano and strings), Sarah Harris and John Scott (backing vocals).

The song is available through www.sosmusic.co.uk.
