So far there are 45 entries keeping their fingers crossed in this year’s Community Giveaway.

We’re giving away grants totalling £10,000 to deserving community groups and individuals to benefit young people in Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre, thanks to our partnership with the Swallowdale Children’s Trust.

Members of the Trust will join a panel of judges next week, who will decide who the worthy winners will be.

From young musicians and sporting stars to dancing troupes and community organisations, applications have been coming in thick and fast.

The Gazette’s Head of Content Andy Sykes said: “We’ve been really impressed by the level and quality of applications into the Community Giveaway, which have highlighted the truly great work that’s being done across the Fylde coast to help
deserving children and young people.

“We are looking forward to meeting the Swallowdale trustees to decide on our winners.”

The Swallowdale Children’s Trust has been helping disadvantaged children and young adults on the Fylde coast for more than 100 years.

It began as an orphanage on Talbot Road in 1914, and later Hornby Road, Blackpool, before Blackpool Council took ownership. Now trustees meet every six weeks to consider funding applications for deserving causes.

If you have missed the opportunity to apply for a grant with our great £10,000 Gazette giveaway, you can still apply to Swallowdale direct.

To apply, contact the Swallowdale Children’s Trust Secretary on 07919 154952, write to Swallowdale Children’s Trust, PO Box 1301, Blackpool, FY1 9HD or email secswallowdale@hotmail.co.uk. For details visit www.swallowdaletrust.co.uk.
