Thousands at Blackpool Illumathon (with gallery)
BLACKPOOL Illuminations were given an extra sparkle on Saturday night when 1,900 bright lights stepped out on the resorts first all-female half-marathon.
They were taking part in Trinity Palliative Care's Illumathon which is on target to raise 200,000 for patient care provide by the Fylde's Trinity Hospice, Brian House Children's Hospice and its community care teams.
The rain held off for the entire event as the women, of all ages, tripped the light fantastic with the Illuminations staying on well into the early hours specially for the event.

Organisers were delighted: "It's been a fantastic night and will raise a huge amount for patient care," said Trinity fundraiser Jane Molyneux.
