TROUBLED horses in Lancashire are set to receive counselling when the Horse Whisperer comes to the Fylde.
Equine expert Monty Roberts, the inspiration for the Robert Redford film, is appearing at Myerscough College on Wednesday, October 11, as part of his "The Horses in My Life" tour.
The son of a horseman, Monty found he had a gift for understanding horses at an early age and vowed to find a different way to train them than the pain inflicted to "break" them.
Monty claims to have discovered the silent body language Equus while tracking wild mustangs in Nevada.
"For centuries humans have said to horses 'you do what I tell you or I'll hurt you'. I'm saying that no-one has the right to say 'you must' to an animal or another human," he said.
While at Myerscough he will work with some of the area's most troubled horses to overcome their fears – whether it's putting on their first saddle, bridle or rider, or loading them into a horsebox.
Tickets cost 20 in advance or 25 on the door, and can be purchased from the Intelligent Horsemanship Association on (01488) 71300 or at www.intelligenthorsemanship.co.uk.
